On Saturday, April 23rd, Cordova's Northstar Theater will have a screening of Max Romey's new film "Trailbound." All proceeds from ticket sales for this film will be re-invested into the town, in the initiation of a new fund to help create covered art spaces. While the scenery of our Alaskan town is very conducive to art, the weather outdoors is not always so! A few covered outdoor spots can already be found around town where the public can recreate when the weather turns wet, but we would like to expand the number of them. As public spaces they can be used for meetings, pic-nics, bird-watching, chatting with friends, or any number of activities. Taking inspiration from Max's films and artwork, we would like to encourage such spaces to serve as retreats for creating art. We would also like to map and connect these spaces with a historical art trail. As the fund grows, there is the opportunity for micro-grants to businesses around town to help jump start the creation of their own covered spaces. Cordova Gear currently has a public covered space with a bench at the street level store entrance, it is there for anyone to enjoy. We would love for the community to become involved in furthering this initiative to encourage more spaces and more engagement with our environment in all weather. Tickets for Max's film can be purchasedat: alaskaadventureshop.com/products/an-evening-of-film-adventure-art-with-max-romey or at the door. Happy Earth Day!
