In early August the Cordova Historical Society wrote a letter of support for the Cordova Covered Spaces Project. We are now working with individuals and organizations to obtain general letters of support and for land commitments that can be set aside for the purpose of a building covered spaces.
A basic map of the route, along which the proposed covered spaces will be built is in the draft design phase now. As the project continues each organization that is involved is encouraged to begin gathering information that will be used in the informational route maps, information that includes, art, plant life, wildlife, history, culture and more. This informational maps will then be used as learning tools for individuals and groups to use along the route while visiting and enjoying time using the covered spaces. A fundraiser and informational event is in the planning stages for this fall. Covered spaces are not a new idea in Cordova, in the past the idea of covered community spaces has been talked about quite a bit. With 160 inches of rain per year, any covered space would benefit our community. If you are interested in helping with this project, please send an email to: [email protected]. With your help we will make this project a success!
