The energy level in Cordova has increased with the beginning of salmon fishing season! The temperature is inching upward ever so slowly, and flowers are beginning to peak out with the promise of summer colors to come soon. The Bay to Bay in May Event on May 6th kicked the season off with a great start that was wildly successful, the event lured a record numbers of people big and small out to ride, walk and run from Hartney Bay to Orca Bay and end up at Orca Adventure Lodge. The event registration raised close to $400 in registration fees that were donated to the Covered Spaces Project and will help build Covered Spaces in Cordova!
The City of Cordova Parks and Recreation Department assisted by volunteers round out the crew that made this event successful. The City of Cordova Police Department managed traffic control and safety during the event. Thank you to all who volunteered and participated and especially to Dr. Paul Gloe, the founder of this amazing event. Paul invested funds and also put many hours of effort into creating this annual event that will continue into the future and encourage people to get out move, enjoy socializing, outdoor beauty and most of all have fun. Thank you Paul, this annual event is an wonderful enhancement to life in Cordova.
