Just sitting in the Reluctant Fisherman Restaurant is a treat. After ordering the fresh Red Salmon Burger and looking out at the harbor, seeing boats being tied up after a stormy opener I realized, this is an amazing dinner show! Those fisherman must have had a really rough time out there with the weather so blowy and nasty during the last 20 hours. It is nice to see that they are all headed home for a well deserved rest. While finishing my dinner, paintings of Bears caught my eye, by talented artist Paula Payne. A whole wall shows bear paintings of McNeil River Bears. Each bear has a personality that seems to jump from the canvas, the fun and playful settings each bear enjoys is a delight to see. The sales of these paintings on the heART wall (created by Sylvia Lang, Reluctant Fisherman Inn owner and artist) will bring donations to Cordova Arts the local non-profit arts group that promotes the Arts in Cordova.
Next time I get to eat out at the Reluctant, my choice will be the fresh King Salmon Steak Appetizer, It had better be soon because fresh King Salmon is not always on the menu. Hmm, better put that on my schedule for later this week......
