Alaskan artist Max Romey will be holding two separate art workshops in Cordova, Alaska on Saturday, April, 23. Together with Cordova Gear, The Net Loft will be facilitating an indoor workshop from 9am-11am, and an immersive outdoor workshop from 1pm-4pm. Max is a skilled watercolor artist who often works on location, as well as back in his studio from sketches done on-site in the wilderness. It can be hard to bring a painting to life in the field and sometimes we just end up with a sketch, a photo or a memory. But these can be plenty to bring that feeling to life on the page. For the morning workshop we will work through a sketch from start to finish and show just how easy it can be to bring a watercolor to life from mountain top to tabletop. The afternoon workshop will involve an outdoor excursion to create art on location. The hardest part of sketching in the field is getting out the door, so if we all show up with sketchbooks in hand we are halfway there! After that, there are just a few quick tricks and you will be well on your way to seeing the world through watercolor. One of the most important tools for this exercise is a keen curiosity and a sense of adventure. That and perhaps a good jacket. Together we will turn those into a great day of sketching! Come join us for one or both workshops, and learn how to capture your adventures in line and color. Spots in these workshops are limited and can be purchased now through The Net Loft website. thenetloftak.com/collections/net-loft-classes-workshops There will also be a showing of Max's new film "Trailbound" following the art workshops Saturday evening at The Northstar Theater. Come relax after a fun day of art and enjoy Max's vision come to life on the big screen.
